Problem with Landlord.?

Honestly, in court he would win (February 24th is 31 days after January 24th, after all)... so, unless you can dispute the damage charges, you have nothing to gain in court. If you really believe you can't bargain with the guy to let you off the hook, then you're probably just in a tough situation. Pay the rent and ask him specific reasoning for the cleaning/damage charges... if he can't give specific examples that itemize to $400, then I would tell him you aren't going to pay that. After all... he did get more rent out of you than he deserves.
