One year old keeps tearing up house?

right now im renting a duplex apartment. and i feel like we are damaging property because of him. yesterday he actually plugged in the iron and now its a big burn mark on the carpet. i mean if this keeps up, we wont have a place to stay. he opens the fridge, takes food and just dumps it on the floor.stains are on the carpet. im losing my patience with him
