Where are all these "counsellors" coming from? Should they be in such a position of authority?

Are counselors qualified to deal with such deep and complicated issues that they claim to be able to deal with? I mean, you only have to call yourself a counselor and hey presto you are one. There have been some terrible stories linked to these people, where they have been abusing their position of trust. (Beechy Colclough, completed a couple of counselor courses) This "profession" are full of the most shadyest people imaginable. If i was ever in need of professional help. It would not be to these people that i would go. The mind is a hugely complex thing, this is why it takes many, many years of Training to become a Psychiatrist and Psychologist. Personally i think there should be a law against these people setting up in business, they have been known to destroy many peoples lives. They are accountable to no one, unless you call the British ociation of Councilers reputable. They also are not recognized by any official medical body.
