Australia Education - how does it compare with UK?

Me and my family are thinking about emigrating to Oz, my step son is 14 and once he has completed his GCSE's we'd like to start a new life the other side of the world, My step son is very intelligent and will be continuing his education to university level - he has expressed interest in Oxford or Cambridge if we stay in this country so has high standards as do we. I would like to know if he continues his education in Oz will he be able to fulfil his potential with the qualifications and standards set in Oz - i just want what's best for him and the whole family - can anyone advise, Thanks
